Stephen Haggard hangs out on the frontline of the changing relationship between citizens and states. His work includes war reporting for the BBC, a stint as Editor at Newsnight, he has run the BBC-Open University partnership, and now as a specialist in digital learning, he is Chair of Africa’s largest education organisation: a school-by-phone which serves short mobile lessons at a cent a day to over 4 million children by mobile in Kenya, Ghana and Ivory Coast. Stephen also heads Our Global School, a local partnership between state schools in Queens Park and in Africa, which allows parents teachers and students to experience education in different conditions. He has lived for over 25 years in Queens Park, his 3 children all attending local schools.
